NNPC, dev’t partners hand over 20-bed capacity healthcare facility to Yobe community

Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Shell Petroleum Development Company and Joint Venture (NNPC/SPDC JV) have inaugurated and handed over 20-bed capacity Primary Healthcare (PHC) facility to Yobe community.

The Group Managing Director, NNPC Limited, Dr Mele Kolo Kyari disclosed this at the inauguration and hand over ceremony of the facility on Tuesday in Ngelshengele, Fune local government area of Yobe State.

Kyari who was represented by Mr Momodu Asemokhai, the Manager External Affairs, NNPC upstream investment services, said “On behalf of NNPC Limited and the management of Shell Petroleum Development Company, it is my pleasure to welcome everyone to the commissioning of the newly constructed and fully equipped 20 bed state-of-art-primary healthcare centre in Yobe state.”

He said NNPC and her partners were fully committed to impacting on the lives of all Nigerians and their environment.

“We will continue to deliver on the best services through our possible names, a lion with the global best practices.” he added.

In her remarks, Dr Sherri Adeosun, President of Relume Charitable Foundation, explained that the health facility consists of the male, female and children wards, delivery and pre-delivery rooms, postnatal, state-of-the-art laboratory, water system, solar powered and inverter and backup power generator.

She added that the health facility also had pharmacy store equipped with drugs, two consulting rooms, emergency, injection room, antenatal and family planning sections.

In his remarks, Dr Kundi Machina, the Executive Secretary, Yobe State Primary Healthcare Management Board called on the people of the community to guard the facility jealously.

Also speaking, the Commissioner for Health, Dr Lawan Gana, commended NNPC, SPDC and the joint venture for their continued support to the state, adding that the gesture was in line with Governor Mai Mala Buni’s plan to build a functional primary healthcare facility in each of the electoral wards in the state.
