The Lagos State Police Command has said it is yet make arrest following the death of Sulaimon Lawal, popularly known as Arikuyeri, the Mile 12 Branch Chairman of the Lagos State Park Management Committee, who was murdered on Sunday by some hoodlums suspected to be cult members during a fight allegedly to take over the park in the area.

According to reports, suspected loyalists and colleagues of the slain transport union member went on a rampage at Owode Elede, Mike 12, Ketu Owode Onirin and other parts of the community attacking residents and passers-by.

In a video circulating the internet, Ariku was seen laying helpless after unknown individuals machete him to death – being the only casualty recorded.

However, in a short phone conversation with Neptune Prime, Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Benjamin Hundeyin, on Monday said the command was yet to make arrest and that normalcy had returned to the area barely 24 hours to the incident.

He said: “No arrest has been made yet, officers command division of the headquarters have been deployed to the area to ensure there is no reprisal. that is what we have for now.”

The latest incident is coming barely a week after the death of an aide to the Local Government Chairman of Oshodi-Isolo in the state.

Attacks of this nature is not new in the state due to the presence of members of road transport unions at various motor parks extorting from transporters at every trip made on a daily basis.

Successive administrations in the state since 1999 have not been able to address this menace which has led to killing of innocent persons and destruction of property and state infrastructures.
