No Christian or Muslim genocide in Nigeria – Tinubu

Story by Okafor Vivian

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has dismissed claims that there is a Christian or Muslim genocide in Nigeria, describing such narratives as misleading and capable of deepening divisions in the country.

The President stated that while Nigeria continues to face serious security challenges, the violence affecting various parts of the country is not targeted at any particular religious group. He stressed that criminality, banditry, and terrorism impact Nigerians regardless of faith.

Tinubu urged religious and community leaders to avoid rhetoric that could inflame tensions, calling instead for unity and collective efforts to address insecurity. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to tackling violence through strengthened security operations and inclusive national dialogue.

The President also called on the international community to rely on verified information when assessing Nigeria’s security situation, emphasizing that the government remains focused on protecting all citizens without discrimination.
