Ọba Sanusi Olusi was reputed to be the first Muslim Oba of Lagos, he succeeded Oba Ibikunle Akitoye as Oba of Lagos from 1928 to 1931.
He was a wealthy and successful trader who resided at 25 Bridge Street, Idumota. The colonial government acquired his house to make way for the construction of the Carter Bridge in 1901.
When the previously deposed Oba Esugbayi Eleko returned, Oba Sanusi Olusi was asked to vacate the throne and was compensated with a £400 (Four Hundred pounds) annual allowance.
Upon Oba Eshugbayi Eleko’s death in 1932, Sanusi Olusi contested the Obaship, this time going against Prince Falolu Dosunmu but lost the contest. There was some tension between Sanusi Olusi and Oba Falolu Dosunmu. In 1935, Oba Falolu protested what he perceived as Sanusi Olusi’s overbearing behaviour: using the royal insignia and acting and dressing as though he were the Oba.

Sanusi Olusi passed away in 1945 and was buried at Okesuna cemetery.
