Nigeria has lost more than 100 soldiers in a few weeks of 2026 due to many attacks in the Northeast, according to a report published yesterday by Sahara Reporters (March 9), citing unnamed military sources.
This report is unquestionable; we have all witnessed ISWAP attack four bases (Konduga, Mainok, Jakana, and Marte) on March 5–6, as well as the Sambisa ambush on March 6 and Kukawa on March 8, which resulted in the deaths of named officers (2 Lt Cols, 2 Majors, etc.) and dozens more, with over 40 people reported missing and ISWAP footage showing captured vehicles and weapons.
The most recent occurrence involved an officer who has saved numerous towns in the Northeast and occurred in Kukawa LG.

The new chief of defence, army, and defence minister are not demonstrating workings; thus far, the situation is dire. They must awaken from their sleep and act quickly. We cannot keep losing officers to terrorist attacks.
