Ondo police command arrests 12 armed robbers, 3 rapists in Akure

The Ondo state police command has paraded a total of 15 Crime Suspects arrested in Akure and other parts of the state.

Before their apprehension, Police revealed the criminals have been terrorizing residents in the state for awhile.

The suspects were paraded at the command’s headquarters in Akure on Wednesday.

The Commissioner of Police, Ondo state command, Bolaji Salami, explained that 12 of the suspects were armed robbers, while the remaining three were arrested for rape.

Salami further disclosed that among the suspects is an eight-man robbery syndicate who specialises in snatching citizens vehicles, phones and other valuables at gun-point.

The security operatives have also recovered some items stolen by the criminals, these include nine motorcycles, a pump action gun and one truck and its contents.

On the charges of rape, the three young men namely Ojo Olaniyi, Akinseye Bayo and Akintosoye Ayo were said to have drugged and raped one Ogungbemi Adewumi in Ondo city.

While answering questions from journalists, one of the robbery suspects, Gbenga Kikiowo, claimed he was into robbery at the tender age of seven.

According to him, he has never killed anyone before, but has successfully carried several robbery operations and has even been to jail three times.

He however pleaded for forgiveness by saying he has repented and would love to join the security agencies to fight crimes in the society.
