Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, is dead

The Governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu, has sadly succumbed to his battle with leukemia, as confirmed by an official from the All Progressives Congress (APC).

He passed away in the early hours of Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at the age of 67.

The news of Governor Akeredolu’s passing follows a series of health challenges. On December 13, he commenced another medical leave to attend to his prolonged illness.

Neptune Prime report that, during his absence, Deputy Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa assumed the responsibilities of the governor in an acting capacity.

Before his recent leave, the governor had returned to office in September after an extended medical leave abroad.

However, his unclear health status created political tension as he continued to run the affairs of Ondo State from his home in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo state.

The passing of Governor Akeredolu marks a solemn moment for the state of Ondo, and our deepest condolences go out to his family and loved ones during this difficult time.
