President Muhammadu Buhari has nominated his Special Assistant on Social Media, Mrs Lauretta Onochie, and 3 others for screening and confirmation as National Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), representing Delta State.

Others nominated for confirmation are Professor Mohammed Sani from Katsina State, Professor Kunle Ajayi from Ekiti State, and Seidu Ahmed from Jigawa State.

Senate President Ahmad Lawan read President Buhari’s letter of request at plenary.

Buhari said the nomination was under Paragraph 14 of part 1F of the First Schedule of the 1999 Constitution.
