Police in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja have apprehended three male students from Bingham University on suspicion of murdering a Bolt driver named Obasi Okeke.
According to reports, the suspects, identified as Obasieyene Inemesit Inem, Aaron Anthony, and Alasan Ayomide Olusegun, allegedly slit the victim’s throat after attempting to pay for the Bolt ride with a fake bank alert.
The Commissioner of Police in charge of the FCT Police Command, CP Haruna Garba, revealed that the lifeless body of Obasi Okeke was discovered at Ngugu close Area 11 Garki, Abuja, with a slit throat. Following a thorough investigation, the three suspects were arrested in connection with the incident.
During the investigation, it was revealed that the deceased was called by one of the suspects to transport them to Guzape Area of Abuja for the purpose of buying Indian hemp.
Upon returning to their starting point, the suspects claimed they had no money to pay for the ride. In an attempt to deceive the driver, they presented a fake debit alert on their phone. However, the deceased insisted that he had not received any payment, resulting in an argument.
Tragically, one of the suspects then pulled out a knife and slit the victim’s throat before fleeing the scene.
CP Haruna Garba confirmed that the three suspects have confessed to the crime and will soon face charges in court.
