Police arrest 35-year-old woman for killing husband over food

A 35-year-old woman, Hadiza Mamuda, allegedly killed her husband in a domestic dispute over food in Garin Abba village, Fika Local Government Area of Yobe State.

According to reports, the argument escalated, and Hadiza struck her husband with a wooden object, resulting in his death.

The Yobe State Police Command confirmed the incident on Wednesday through its Public Relations Officer, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, in a statement issued to the press.

“Investigation is underway, and the suspect will be arraigned in court subsequently.

“The statement noted that the victim, a polygamous man with two wives and five children (including the accused), has left behind a bereaved family.

The State Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Ado, in the statement, emphasised the need for community intervention initiatives to address domestic violence and abuse.

He urged religious leaders to intensify sensitization campaigns on the dangers of physical violence in marital affairs. “The Command remains committed to maintaining security and safety for all citizens”, he said.
