Police in Lagos arrest 2 Pakistanis for kidnapping, rescue 48-year-old victim
Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested two Pakistani nationals, Roman Gull, 19, and Aftab Ahmad, 28, for allegedly leading a kidnapping syndicate in the state.
The suspects, along with five accomplices, lured a 48-year-old Pakistani national from Kano State to Lagos under the pretence of offering him a job as a chef. Once in Lagos, the gang abducted him and demanded a ransom of ₦50 million from his employer.
According to the State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, the Ikeja Division received a distress call on March 5, 2025, regarding the abduction.
Anti-crime patrol teams were immediately dispatched, resulting in the successful rescue of the victim and the arrest of the two suspects, while five other gang members managed to escape.

Initial investigations revealed that the gang booked the victim’s flight from Kano, lodged him in a hotel, and then abducted him the following day, tying him up and threatening to kill him if the ransom was not paid. The victim’s employer initially paid ₦1 million in an attempt to buy time before contacting the authorities.
Recovered items included a grey Toyota Camry, $2,000 in cash, three ATM cards, a green card, a driver’s license, and a National Identity Number slip belonging to the victim.
The police continue their efforts to apprehend the remaining suspects, with plans to prosecute the arrested individuals upon the completion of the investigation.
According to police, the rescued victim is in good health, and his family has been notified of his recovery.
Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, praised the swift response of the officers and assured the public that security efforts in the state would continue to be a top priority.
