Senate issues arrest warrant for Julius Berger MD
The Senate on Thursday issued an arrest warrant for Dr. Peer Lubasch, Managing Director of Julius Berger Nigeria Plc, after his repeated failure to appear before the Senate Committee on Works.
The decision followed a motion raised by Senate Minority Whip, Senator Osita Ngwu (PDP, Enugu West), and co-sponsored by Senators Asuquo Ekpenyong (APC, Cross River South) and Mpigi Barinada (PDP, Rivers South East).
The motion cited Julius Berger’s refusal to provide explanations regarding the abandonment of projects and a significant contract variation, which saw a budget increase from ₦54 billion to ₦195 billion.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio stated that the date for the company’s compelled appearance would be outlined in the arrest warrant.
Details are still unfolding.
