Seven top football stars who rejected biggest contracts

Cristiano Ronaldo was presented with a staggering £1.7million (about N850million) weekly contract by an unnamed Chinese Super League club in 2018, but the Portuguese rejected the move to sign for Italian outfit Juventus.

In the same vein, Argentine legend, Lionel Messi was also offered £1.7million (about N850million) to move to China by an unnamed club in 2018.

The Barcelona captain reportedly contemplated such a move, however, he went on to extend his contract with the Catalan giants.

Also, Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho who had stints with several big European clubs including Real Madrid, Manchester United, Inter Milan, Chelsea and a host of others was lured with a staggering weekly wage of £540,000 (about N270million) by Chinese side Guangzhou Evergrande two years ago. The Special One rejected the offer and preferred to return to the Premier League by signing for Tottenham Hotspur.
