Soldiers kill five terrorists, rescue three hostages in Borno
Troops of the Nigerian Army have neutralised five terrorists and rescued three abducted hostages during a coordinated operation in Borno State, military authorities said on Monday.
The operation, conducted as part of Operation Hadin Kai, targeted a terrorists’ hideout in the Gajiram axis of Jere Local Government Area following credible intelligence on their location and activities.
According to a statement by the Director of Army Public Relations, Brigadier-General Onyema Nwachukwu, troops encountered heavy resistance when they moved in to free the captives. In the ensuing gun battle, five terrorists were killed, while others fled with gunshot wounds.

The three rescued hostages, whose names have not been disclosed for security reasons, were found alive and have since been handed over to military medical personnel for treatment and debriefing.
Brig-Gen Nwachukwu said the troops recovered arms and ammunition from the terrorists’ camp, including assault rifles, ammunition and communication devices, underscoring the tactical success of the mission.
He praised the bravery and professionalism of the troops,’ adding that sustained operations would continue to degrade the capabilities of terrorist groups and enhance the safety of communities in Borno and neighbouring states.

The Army reiterated its commitment to protecting citizens and urged local communities to continue providing timely and credible information to aid ongoing counter-terrorism efforts.
