Thousands join Tunisian-led ‘Sumud Convoy’ to demand end to Israeli blockade on Gaza
A powerful movement of global solidarity is sweeping across continents as people of conscience rise to challenge Israel’s brutal siege on Gaza.
From North Africa to Europe and beyond, convoys, ships, and marches are being mobilised in a unified call to end the blockade and demand justice for Palestinians trapped under what many describe as collective punishment.
Leading this charge is the Sumud Convoy, also known as the Convoy of Resilience, which set off from Tunisia on June 9. Named after the Arabic word for “steadfastness,” the convoy brings together doctors, lawyers, students, and football supporters from across the region, journeying overland toward the Rafah crossing.
Their mission is not just to deliver aid but to send a message: the people of Gaza are not forgotten. With participants also joining from Algeria, Morocco, and Mauritania, the convoy represents a powerful statement of Arab unity against occupation and siege.
Their efforts are mirrored at sea and on foot. The Freedom Flotilla’s ship Madleen, carrying humanitarian aid, was recently intercepted in international waters by Israeli forces, an act widely condemned by human rights advocates.

Meanwhile, thousands from over 30 nations are preparing to join the march to Gaza, a mass mobilisation aiming to reach the border and challenge the blockade with their presence. Taken together, these efforts mark a growing global resistance that refuses to remain silent in the face of oppression.
