Tinubu not presenting 2025 budget Wednesday – N’Assembly
The National Assembly has debunked social media rumors claiming that President Bola Tinubu would present the 2025 budget to a joint session on Wednesday.
In a statement on Tuesday, Dr. Ali Umoru, Secretary of Research and Information at the National Assembly, called the reports false. He clarified that the 2024-2026 Medium Term Expenditure Framework and Fiscal Strategy Paper, which must be approved before the budget presentation, has not yet been passed.
Umoru urged the public to disregard the misinformation and reminded everyone to rely on official channels for communications from the National Assembly.
“The claim that the 2025 budget will be presented tomorrow is false. The required legislative processes, including the approval of the MTEF and FSP, are still ongoing,” the statement read.
Dr. Umoru emphasized the National Assembly’s commitment to transparent governance and urged media outlets and individuals to verify information before publishing.
This clarification comes as Nigerians await the formal presentation of the 2025 budget, which is expected to outline the government’s fiscal strategy and economic priorities for the upcoming year.
On Monday, the Senate Committee on Finance held a meeting with Ministries, Departments, and Agencies as part of efforts to finalize work on the MTEF/FSP.
