Lt. Col. Olaniyi Osoba, the Chief Military Information Officer of the MNJTF based in N’djamena, Chad, shared the details of the operation during a briefing in Maiduguri on Monday.

He said the gallant troops neutralised the terrorists, who launched an offensive using suicide Vehicle Borne Improvised Explosive Devices, VBIEDs, on the MNJTF troops on Friday.

“Following intense air cum artillery bombardments and ground assault, five terrorists were neutralised while several others fled with gunshot wounds.

“During the operation, own air assets destroyed three VBIEDs while troops captured 40 motorbikes equipped with assorted weapons, four anti-aircraft guns, and one rocket-propelled grenade. Unfortunately, three soldiers paid the supreme price,” he said.
