Troops neutralise suspected boko haram fighter in Borno ambush

Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have neutralised a suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP fighter during an ambush operation in the Kirawa general area of Borno State.
The operation, conducted late Thursday along the Gakara–Kirawa axis, was carried out in collaboration with Hybrid Forces and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) under Operation Mountain Sanity II/Desert Sanity IV/Diligent Search.
According to a military source, the troops intercepted a group of insurgents suspected to be on a logistics movement.

“The troops engaged the terrorists with overwhelming firepower, neutralising one of them, while others fled with possible gunshot wounds,” the source said.
During the follow-up search of the area, the troops recovered two bicycles, three bags of semovita, 200 sachets of salt, 19 wrappers, and 11 bottles of energy drink, believed to be supplies destined for the insurgents’ hideouts.
The source added that no troop or civilian was injured in the encounter.

The Nigerian military has recently intensified its offensive operations in the Timbuktu Triangle and Lake Chad fringes to disrupt terrorist logistics routes and restrict their movement across the region.
