Troops of the Joint Task Force North East, Operation Hadin Kai, have successfully rescued 12 teenage girls abducted by Boko Haram/ISWAP insurgents in Mussa District of Askira/Uba Local Government Area, Borno State.

According to a statement released by the Nigerian Army, the girls—aged between 15 and 20—were kidnapped on November 23 while harvesting crops on their family farmlands, but were rescued on Saturday, November 29, 2025, through a swift, intelligence-driven military operation in southern Borno.

The victims have since been moved to a secure military facility where they are receiving medical treatment, psychological support and thorough debriefing. They will be reunited with their families after completing the recovery process, bringing relief to the community traumatized by the abduction.

Those rescued include: Fatima Shaibu (17), Fatima Umaru (15), Hauwa Abubakar (18), Saliha Muhammed (15), Sadiya Umaru (17), Amira Babel (15), Zara Adamu (17), Nana Shaibu (15), Zainab Musa (18), Zainab Muhammed (17), Jamila Saidu (15) and Hauwa Hamidu (17).

The military high command praised troops for their prompt and courageous efforts, while acknowledging the vital role of security partners and local informants whose timely intelligence aided the operation.
The Army also reaffirmed its commitment to tracking ISWAP remnants in the region to prevent future attacks and protect civilians.
