An acclaimed professor of Media and Society, Umar Pate, has been elected president of the Association of Communication Scholars and Professionals of Nigeria (ACSPN).
ACSPN is an association committed to advancing the scholarly study and practice of communication by promoting and facilitating the pursuit of excellence in academic research and professional practice in Nigeria.
Pate, who lectures at the Bayero University, Kano (BUK), was once the deputy president of ACSPN.
He succeeded the pioneer president of the association, Professor Lai Oso, at the end of a two-day virtual conference.
The conference had in attendance over 100 communication experts and practitioners, across the world.
The conference was themed, “Communicating Identities and Nationhood: Promoting Inclusive Democracy through Access of Information and Knowledge Societies.”
Pate was also the pioneer Dean, Faculty of Communication, and at present, the Dean, School of Postgraduate Studies at BUK.
