Woman’s lifeless body found inside hotel room

The lifeless body of an unidentified young woman has been discovered in a hotel located in the Igbogene area of Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital.

The incident, which occurred on Saturday, has sparked concern among residents of the area.

PUNCH Metro gathered that the deceased had checked into the hotel with a young man suspected to be an internet fraudster, commonly referred to as a ‘Yahoo boy’.

However, shortly after they arrived, the man reportedly left the premises, leaving the woman behind.

The hotel manager is said to have found the young woman’s body and immediately reported the incident to the Igbogene Divisional Police Headquarters.

“The lifeless body of a young girl was found in a hotel at Igbogene on Saturday causing confusion in the area

“She lodged in the hotel with a suspected Yahoo boy who left immediately after.

“The hotel manager who found the dead body reported the incident to the police at Igbogene,” the source said.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the Bayelsa State Police Command, Mr Musa Muhammad, confirmed the incident, saying an investigation is ongoing to ensure the culprits are brought to book.

Mohammed said, “We received the report yesterday; though no arrest has been made for now, an investigation is ongoing.

“We are making serious enquiries to ensure that the culprits are brought to book. Also, an autopsy would be run on the deceased to ascertain the cause of the death.”
