Yobe State Government has unveiled a three-year Strategic Plan for Human Capital Development and Demographic Dividends (2025-2027), aimed at transforming its youthful population into an engine for economic growth.

During the launch at the Government House in Damaturu, Governor Mai Mala Buni, represented by his deputy, Alhaji Idi Barde Gubana, described the plan as a “key milestone.”

He stated that the state’s unique approach of merging human capital development with demographic dividend concepts has attracted national interest.

The National Coordinator of Human Capital Development, represented by Yahuza Adamu, commended Yobe’s leadership.

“By anticipating how a young and growing population can become a force for growth rather than a burden, you are positioning Yobe for a future of shared prosperity,” said Adamu.

He highlighted significant progress in health and education, noting that Yobe is the only state to have improved in all five key parameters of a recent national health survey.

A development partner, Dr Usman Gorzo from the UK, confirmed Yobe’s leading role, stating that the state is now a “model” being used to mentor 21 other Nigerian states on health security and strategic planning.

Stakeholders were encouraged to participate fully in the implementation of the plan, which focuses on key areas such as education, healthcare, and skills development.
