Yobe strengthens security ahead of Eid-el-Fitr celebration

To ensure a peaceful and hitch-free Eid-el-Fitr celebration, His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Yobe State, Hon. Mai Mala Buni CON, has convened a high-level security meeting at the Government House, Damaturu, on Wednesday, March 26, 2025.
Represented by his Deputy, Hon. Idi Barde Gubana (Wazirin Fune), Governor Buni emphasized the importance of proactive measures to sustain peace and security across the state during the festive period.
The Deputy Governor lauded security agencies for their commitment to maintaining law and order and commended traditional rulers and community leaders for their role in conflict resolution and fostering unity.

Speaking at a joint press briefing, the Acting Commissioner of Police, Abubakar Abdul Osun, highlighted the purpose of the meeting, stating that it was aimed at enhancing the state’s security framework for a peaceful celebration.
He urged parents and guardians to supervise their children’s movements during the festivities and caution against reckless behaviour and driving.
The Special Adviser on Security Matters, Brigadier General Dahiru Abdulsalam (Rtd.), dismissed rumours about purported evacuation notices issued by Boko Haram to some communities in the Gujba area, affirming the state’s commitment to safeguarding its citizens.
The government and security agencies remain dedicated to ensuring a secure and joyous Eid-el-Fitr celebration for all residents of Yobe State.
