Youths engage authorities in campaign against rape in Yobe

Fune Youth Development and Proactive Association have conducted a campaign against rape in Damagum town.

The campaign becomes necessary after a series of rape cases in the state which prompted the youths to campaign against this inhuman acts, sensitise the members of the public to report such cases.

The youths gathered at the Central Primary School Damagum before proceeding on advocacy visits to HRH, Dr Saleh Idrissa Ibn Usman – Emir of Fune, Abubakar Kollere – DPM and also acting Fune LGA Chairman and Divisional Police officer.

The Emir of Fune in his reaction to the campaign by the youths urged them to sustain the good work saying, “Youths are the backbone of the society and I appreciate your efforts towards the development of our Local Government Area, you have taken the good step and therefore I advise you to maintain law and order while conducting your activities, I’m behind you in this, rapists deserve severe penalty”.

From the palace, the youths proceeded to the Local Government Secretariat where they met with the acting Chairman, he called on the youths to ”be vigilant and be supportive in your activities, I’m deeply encouraged by your patriotism and I will give you whatever support you may need”.

Therefore, the Association went to the Divisional Police Officer after meeting with the LGA Chairman.

The Association called on all stakeholders and authorities to support them in the fight against the senseless menace (Rape).
