In an update provided on August 16, 2023, by YSCHMA, the purpose of the review was to assess the current implementation of activities, focusing on performance-based measures, quality of service improvement, expanding coverage (UHC), and enhancing best management practices.

After a thorough evaluation using the performance tool, the agency achieved an impressive score of 64% for its first and second quarter activities in 2023.

In addition to the review, the agency will also use the week-long meeting to develop their 2024 Annual Operational Plan, in line with the state’s budget cycle.

They will collaborate with representatives from the state Ministry of Justice and NHIA to identify any gaps in the existing YSCHMA laws, in order to work towards possible legislation to comply with the NHIA Act of 2022.

Chaired by the Executive Secretary of YSCHMA, Dr. Babagana Tijjani, the meeting includes the Director of Planning, Research, and Statistics from the State Ministry of Health, the State NHIA Coordinator, representatives from the Lafiya Project, CHECOD consultants, and the YSCHMA team.
