Nigeria’s stable democracy attributed to robust executive-legislature relationship – Ahmed Lawan
Senate President, Senator Ahmed Ibrahim Lawan, attributes Nigeria’s stable democracy to the strong relationship between the executive and legislative branches.
In a press release signed by Mary Noel-Berje, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Niger State, Lawan emphasizes the importance of stability for good governance, highlighting the separation of powers as the foundation of this relationship.
Lawan recently visited Minna as a Special Guest of Honour to inaugurate the new Niger State House of Assembly Complex.
During his visit, he praised Governor Abubakar Sani Bello for being a Parliamentary-friendly Governor and commended his vision in constructing the impressive House of Assembly Complex.

The multi-million naira structure is expected to significantly enhance the efficiency of the state legislature in fulfilling their legislative responsibilities and promoting overall growth and development in the state.
Governor Abubakar Sani Bello explains that the decision to build the new House of Assembly Complex stems from the desire to provide a conducive working environment and improve the quality and capacity of the legislators in carrying out their constitutional duties.
He commended the collaborative efforts of the state assembly members and emphasized the mutually supportive working relationship his administration enjoys with the legislature.
The Governor urged the staff to ensure excellent maintenance of the edifice.
The Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Barrister Abdullahi Bawa Wuse, acknowledged Governor Sani Bello’s support for and advocacy of legislative autonomy, which has facilitated the members’ performance in the state.
Wuse expressed concern over the frequent removal of presiding officers and called for a review of the impeachment process to enable these officers to perform their duties more effectively.
In his welcome address, the Commissioner of Works and Infrastructural Development, Hon. Sani Muhammadu Mai Lafiya, provided an overview of the 3-floor Assembly Complex, which includes 30 offices for Honourable Members, a 300-capacity public hearing room, a conference room for seminars and symposiums, eight committee rooms, a library, a cyber cafe, research facilities, and an e-library, among other amenities.
