Gunmen have killed six people, including five members of the same family, during a late-night attack on Nding community in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The attack, which occurred around 9 p.m. on Tuesday, has intensified fear among residents already grappling with repeated violence across parts of the state.
A community member, Weng Christopher, said the assailants invaded the area and opened fire on residents, killing five relatives from one household alongside another victim.
He described the recurring attacks as disturbing, noting that many residents now live in constant fear.
“This is becoming too frequent. People are living in constant fear,” he said.
The killings were also confirmed by Berom Youth Moulders Publicity Secretary, Rwang Tengwong, who condemned the incident and called for urgent action from security agencies.
Tengwong further revealed that another attack was attempted in Rim community, located in Riyom Local Government Area, but was successfully repelled by local vigilantes and operatives of Operation Rainbow.
He urged authorities to strengthen security efforts and ensure better protection of lives and property across Plateau State amid the rising wave of violence.
