Three policemen have been reportedly killed by suspected ESN gunmen on Wednesday evening, while on duty at Onuebonyi/Nwezenyi road, Abakaliki, close to Cross River and the Ebonyi States’ border.

In a report by The Independent, the unidentified gunmen were said to have raided the police checkpoint in a bus, and started shooting, killing three police on the spot and injuring another three persons.

According to the report, the victims were rushed to the Alex Ekwueme Federal Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki, where the injured are currently receiving treatment.

South-East and South-South regions in recent times have received the most attacks on security forces, especially the Nigeria Police where stations have been burnt down and officers killed.
