33-year-old man sentenced to prison for stealing cooking pots

A 33-year-old man, Ige Bola, has been sentenced to two months in prison with hard labor by an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court for stealing cooking pots worth ₦100,000.

Chief Magistrate Mr. Bankole Oluwasanmi delivered the judgment after Bola pleaded guilty to the crime. The prosecution, led by Insp Elijah Adejare, stated that Bola committed the offense on July 31 around 6:30 p.m. in Ilawe-Ekiti.

According to Adejare, Bola stole three cooking pots belonging to Adenike Temiyemi and brought them to Ado-Ekiti. He was caught by Agro marshal security officers while he was compressing the pots and was handed over to the police. The prosecutor added that Bola confessed to the crime, and the cooking pots were recovered from him.

The offense was found to be in contravention of Section 302(1)(a) of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.
