A 70-year-old man has allegedly raped a 12-year-old girl 10 times in Pompomari Metropolis of Damaturu, the Yobe State capital.
The incident was reported to the Yobe State Police Command by Aisha Usman Umar, the grandmother of the victim.
The victim identified as Hussaina Auwal, aged 12, was said to have suffered multiple molestations at the hand of her abuser.
The Yobe State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Abdulkarim Dungus confirmed the incident to Neptune Prime correspondent in Damaturu when contacted on Tuesday.
Abdulkarim said, “one Aisha Usman Umar a resident of Pompomari Ward, Damaturu Metropolis reported that a suspect, Saidu Yusuf of the same address, aged-70 lured and had sexual intercourse with her granddaughter Hussaina Auwal, aged 12.
“The suspect was arrested and confessed to the charge of the offence, admitting that he had canal knowledge of the victim 10 times.
“Upon the conclusion of an investigation, the suspect would be charged to court for subsequent prosecution.
