Story from Najibullahi ADAMU, Gombe

As part of efforts to boost internal revenues of states, the Joint Tax Board in partnership with Gombe State Internal Revenue Service on Wednesday trained desk officers from boards of internal revenue of the North-Eastern states on Tax Identification Numbers (TIN) registrations.

He advised all tax payers to register to get tax identification numbers, pointing out that without them, they might be restricted to register their vehicles, import or export goods and services.

Also speaking, the team leader for the training from the Joint Tax Board, Jafaru Mohammed Ibrahim urged the states revenue boards to generate more taxes for the six states after the training.

According to him, tax is the surest way for the government to get funds for projects execution, hence, the parastatal embarks on the training of revenue officers.

In her remarks, a facilitator at the workshop Ritatani Nwang tasked petty traders on payment of taxes to the governments, noting that civil servants and big businesses comply more than others in terms of tax payments.
