One of 3 ritualists arrested with human heart by Ogun police command dies

21-year-old Olufemi Oriyomi, one of the three suspected ritualists arrested by operatives of the Ogun State Police Command has died after fallen sick in custody.

The suspects, Olayade Kehinde, 25, Oriyomi, 21 (the deceased), and Raimi Sheriff, 21, were arrested on Thursday, Apri 17, with a human heart by police detectives on ‘stop and search’ duty along Osogbo/OAU lfe Campus Road, Osun State.

According to a statement by the Command’s spokesperson, Superintendent (SP) Yemisi Opalola, the trio on a motorcycle, were flagged down by Police on ‘Stop and Search’, “but rather than stop, sped off, and were pursued.” They were arrested in Safejo area of lle-lfe.

The statement added that the human heart, which they claimed was one of their friends, and various criminal charms, were found on them.

Opalola further stated that one of the suspects, “Oriyomi fell sick and was taken to hospital for treatment, but unfortunately, died while on admission.”

His corpse, according to her, has been deposited at the State hospital for autopsy.

“The remaining two suspects will be charged to court upon conclusion of investigation,” she said.
