Suspected IPOB members attack Anambra Broadcasting Service 

Gunmen suspected to be members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB)/ the Eastern Security Network (ESN) have in the early hours of Monday, attacked the Anambra Broadcasting Service (ABS), Awada, Onitsha station.

According to reports, a building and two vehicles parked in the premises were torched.

One of the vehicles is said to be a staff bus of the station while the other, is a car belonging to a staff of the station who worked during the night hours when the attack happened.

Although no life was lost, staffers were left injured after the attack.

When contacted, the Police spokesman, DSP Ikenga Tochukwu, confirmed the attack and said their operatives prevented further damage to the building by the hoodlums.

He said: “Following a distress call today 30/5/2022 at about 4:30 am of a case of arson in Anambra State Broadcasting Station, Idemili North, the Police operatives responded swiftly and prevented the hoodlums from causing damage to the structure.

“Unfortunately two of the operational vehicles belonging to the station were affected. No life was lost.

“Meanwhile, the station has been cordoned off and operation is still ongoing in the area. Further development shall be communicated please,” Ikenga said in a terse statement sent to newsmen.
