Yobe residents laud Gov. Buni for timely intervention in flood-ravaged areas

Residents of Sumsumma community situated at less than 2kms from Waziri Ibrahim Housing Estate Damaturu, the Yobe State Capital have thanked Governor Mai Mala Buni for his timely intervention after years of suffering from flood disaster.

Neptune Prime gathered that the residents have been crying for rescue several times untill recently when government of the state under the leadership of Governor Buni included the community in it’s 2023 budget.

The residents appreciated the Governor for a renewed hope after the annual flood has cut off all the paths linking the community with other parts of Damaturu and surrounding areas.

The flood, apart from hindering movement of the residents into or out of the community, also poised threat to some of their residential buildings near the water way where in some instances the flowing water occupy their buildings and render them homeless.

This residents expressed their gladness with the culvert and drainages construction that commenced on Saturday, 1st April, 2023.

They commended the present administration of Governor Mai Mala Buni for the gesture and noted that the project will solve the annual hardship they face.

The residents also expressed hope that the work would be completed before the onset of the rainy season.
