Gombe government releases N1.5 billion for gratuity

The Gombe State Government has released a total of N1.5 billion for the payment of retirees in six months says, Governor Inuwa Yahaya.

Yahaya made the disclosure during the flag-off of Youth Empowerment and Social Support Operation (YESSO) program in Billiri Local Government Area of the state yesterday.

According to him, the government is still paying retired civil servants their gratuity inherited from the previous administration.

He added that the government will continue to ensure that all the retirees get their entitlement.

Governor Yahaya said that 27, 000 people are to benefit from YESSO across the 11 LGAs out of which 2,809 are from Billiri with a monthly allowance of N7,500 each.

He said that the program aimed to empower them under Gombe Goes Green (3G) for the beneficiaries to nature all the trees planted in the state.

Our correspondent reports that Governor Yahaya has presented ATM cards for the beneficiaries with the arrears of N37,500 for five months to each of them.
