Gov. Masari inaugurates Katsina’s first flyover, easing traffic congestion
Governor Aminu Bello Masari inaugurated the first-ever flyover in Katsina State on Tuesday.
The N6.5 billion flyover, situated at the GRA roundabout in Katsina, was awarded by the Masari administration to the construction firm Mother Cat in May 2022, with a contract value of N4.33 billion.
During the commissioning ceremony, the governor emphasized that the purpose of the flyover was to alleviate traffic congestion in the state capital.
He stated that his administration’s restoration agenda had focused on the provision, rehabilitation, and development of infrastructure throughout the state.
Governor Masari explained, “In our efforts to reduce congestion and facilitate smoother vehicular movement, the state government awarded contracts for three interchange bridges at Kofar Kwaya, Kofar Kaura, and the GRA roundabout.”
“These bridges hold great importance today, and their construction decisions will be viewed positively. The contracts for the Kofar Kaura and Kofar Kwaya underpasses were awarded to Tracta Nigeria Limited at the costs of N2.8 billion and N2.9 billion, respectively. The projects were completed and commissioned by the President in January of this year.”
“The project about to be commissioned was awarded in the 2022 financial year to Mother Car Limited, with an initial cost of N4,327,129,296.55. However, due to additional work introduced and compensation payments for structures affected by the project, the cost was revised to N6,407,373,068.02.”
The governor also expressed his gratitude to the people of the state for entrusting their mandates to the All Progressive Congress (APC) and Dr. Umar Dikko Radda, the party’s candidate, in order to build upon the achievements of his administration.
He highlighted that, over the past eight years, his government had constructed and rehabilitated numerous roads and facilities.
