Zulum promises to reopen displaced communities, set up 27 microfinance banks, ICT centres

Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State has declared his resolve to reopen more displaced communities to accelerate the rebooting of the economy of the insurgency-ravaged state.

He added that he plans to set up 27 microfinance banks and 27 ICT centres to ensure the financial inclusion of his people.

Taking the second-term oath of office,  Zulum also announced plans to recruit 5,000 teachers, and 1,500 health workers and establish a microfinance facility in each of the 27 local government areas of the state.

“I am always happy whenever I visit Baga, Damasak, Kala Balge, Monguno, Gwoza, Bama, Damboa, Askira, Banki, Baga, Gamboru, Dikwa, Ngoshe, Kirawa, and all other liberated communities across Borno State.

“We also plan to close all or a greater percentage of IDP camps in all the 27 LGs and resettle them in a dignified manner in collaboration with our development partners and international communities,” the governor said.

“We will establish six centres of excellence to harness the potential of underprivileged children by providing an enabling environment for them to fully realise their potential.

“We will also construct additional secondary and primary schools and as well rehabilitate 100 schools, recruit additional 5,000 teachers, and ensure adequate resources for education,” he added.

Shortly after the governor’s inauguration, members of the Senior Executive Course 37 of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies pledged their support to his administration to accelerate the restoration of the state.
