Gunmen assassinate Yobe varsity staff at home

A tragic incident occurred in Damaturu, the Yobe State capital, when heavily armed men took the life of Ummie Adamu Mammam, a non-academic staff member at Yobe State University.

Ummie, who served as a Faculty Officer at the university, was fatally attacked in her residence at New Bra-Bra Housing Estate along Gujba bypass road on Wednesday night.

According to a lecturer at the institution, the victim was targeted by suspected hired killers while she was at home.

“It is true, she was killed last night when sleeping at home. She was my friend’s wife. I just confirmed from a member of her faculty now,” the lecturer confirmed.

The Head of Information at the State-owned University verified the tragic news, expressing that the institution is yet to obtain full details about the incident.

“The entire university community mourns the loss of Ummie and will seek justice for this senseless act of violence,” he said.
