Justice Rahman Oshodi subsequently remanded him in a correctional facility. The case was adjourned until March 25 for further proceedings.

According to the state counsel, Bukola Okeowo, the accused committed the offence on March 23, 2023 in the White Sand Area of Ijora, Badiya, Lagos.

It was alleged that the defendant unlawfully had sexual intercourse with the baby and inflicted injuries on her vagina, causing grievous harm.

These actions are in violation of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State (2015) and are punishable by life imprisonment.

The news of such a heinous crime is undeniably distressing and deeply concerning, reflecting the urgency of prioritising the safety and protection of our most vulnerable members of society.
