Airplane Mishap: XeJet aircraft skids off runway at Lagos Airport

A terrifying incident unfolded at the Murtala Muhammad International Airport in Lagos when an aircraft owned by Xejet Airlines, identified as XeJet E145 with registration number 5NBZZ, veered off the runway into a grass verge during landing around 11.29 a.m.

The aircraft, which had departed from the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, was carrying 52 passengers and two crew members.

Immediately after the incident, fire and rescue teams sprang into action to aid in the safe evacuation of the passengers. As a result of the mishap, Runway 18L had to be temporarily closed to air traffic.

The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) swiftly responded to the scene to commence their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the runway excursion.
