Police arrest suspected kidnapper linked to murder of Nabeeha

The Nigerian Police Force has made a significant arrest in connection to the abduction and tragic murder of Nabeeha, the daughter of a Bwari lawyer. The suspect, Bello Mohammed, has been apprehended in a raid on a Kaduna hotel, and crucial evidence has been recovered.

Nabeeha Al-Kadriyar, a 400-level student of Biological Science at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, was among the innocent victims of the abduction, alongside 13-year-old Folashade Ariyo and several others.

Reports indicate that the kidnappers had been demanding a substantial ransom for their captives, and tragically, they had already killed four of the hostages, including Nabeeha.

The police statement revealed, “The Divisional Police Officer, Tafa Division, acting on intelligence, raided one hotel in Tafa Area, Kaduna, where he arrested Bello, with the sum of N2.250m (Two Million, two hundred and fifty thousand naira) only, suspected to be proceeds of ransoms collected from kidnapped victims within the area.”

During interrogation, Bello confessed to his involvement in the kidnapping and subsequent murder of Nabeeha and other victims in a camp in Kaduna State.

In addition to his confession, Bello reportedly attempted to bribe the police officer leading the operation with N1 million, which was rejected as the officer continued to carry out his duty diligently.

The Inspector-General of Police has ordered the transfer of the suspect to the IRT in Abuja for further investigations and to pursue other accomplices involved in the heinous act.

This arrest marks a significant breakthrough in the pursuit of justice for the victims and their families. The police are committed to leaving no stone unturned in dismantling criminal activities and ensuring a safer society for all.
