More than 5000 classrooms destroyed by insurgents in Borno

More than 5000 classrooms were destroyed in Borno State as a result of Boko Haram unrest in North Eastern Nigeria.
This was disclosed by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Reconstruction, Rehabilitation and Resettlement, Yerima Saleh during a Press briefing with Newsmen as part of activities marking Press Week in Maiduguri.
He said Borno’s Governor Kashim Shettima created the Ministry in 2015 to solely rebuild and reconstruct destroyed public and private buildings including the traditional rulers houses in the State.
The permanent Secretary said the ministry produced more than one million blocks in rebuilding Bama local Government.
The ministry he added is working towards restoring the livelihoods of the internally displaced persons.
He also commended the support of international Donor agencies and NGOs for their support especially in the donation of food and non-food items to displaced people.
