CAF slaps $100,000 fine on Algerian FA, suspends players after Nigeria clash
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has fined the Algerian Football Federation (FAF) $100,000 and handed suspensions to several Algerian players following acts of misconduct after a clash with Nigeria.
CAF disclosed that the sanctions stem from violations of its disciplinary code during and after the match, citing unsporting behaviour, improper conduct, and breaches of fair play regulations by the Algerian team.

In addition to the heavy fine imposed on the Algerian FA, CAF announced the suspension of affected players for varying durations, ruling them out of upcoming continental fixtures. The governing body stressed that such actions undermine the spirit of the game and will not be tolerated.
The disciplinary decision followed a review of match officials’ reports, video evidence, and submissions from both football federations involved in the encounter.
CAF reiterated its commitment to maintaining discipline and respect across African football, warning that future incidents of misconduct could attract even stiffer penalties.
