DHQ mourns former Spokesman Maj.-Gen. Abubakar, Reaffirms commitment to defeating terrorism

 

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has expressed deep sorrow over the death of former Director of Defence Information, Maj.-Gen. Chris Olukolade Abubakar (Rtd.), describing him as a distinguished officer whose contributions to the Nigerian Armed Forces and national security will be remembered for years to come.

In a statement, the military high command paid tribute to the late senior officer, noting that he served the nation with dedication, professionalism and integrity throughout his military career. The DHQ said his leadership and commitment to duty left a lasting impact on the Armed Forces and the country’s security architecture.

The Defence Headquarters also extended its condolences to the family, friends and associates of the deceased, praying for the peaceful repose of his soul and strength for those he left behind.

While mourning the late military officer, the DHQ reiterated its unwavering commitment to tackling terrorism, insurgency and other security threats confronting the nation. It assured Nigerians that the Armed Forces remain resolute in their mission to protect the country’s territorial integrity and ensure the safety of citizens.

According to the military, ongoing operations across various theatres have continued to record successes against terrorist groups and criminal elements, with troops maintaining pressure on insurgents and other non-state actors.

The DHQ emphasized that the sacrifices and dedication of officers such as the late Maj.-Gen. Abubakar serve as inspiration for serving personnel in the collective effort to achieve lasting peace and security across the country.

The Armed Forces further pledged to sustain ongoing military operations and strengthen collaboration with relevant stakeholders to bring an end to terrorism and other forms of insecurity in Nigeria.
