How former Emir paid N25m for prisoners release in Kano to mark birthday

Story from Saleh INUWA, Kano

Still in a celebratory mood, the former Emir, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, who marked his 60th birthday on 31st July 2021, used the occasion to assist the less privileged financially by promising to sponsor children of the poor and pay the medical bills of those that cannot afford to in Kano.

As part of the implementation process, associates of SLS were at Goron Dutse and Kurma correctional centres both on the outskirts of Kano, to pay a large sum of money on behalf of some prisoners so that they can regain their freedom and be rehabilitated into society.

So far, Sanusi, who selected 21 inmates from Kurmawa and Goron Dutse Correctional Centers, paid the sum of N25m to secure their release from the correctional centres.

The inmates vowed to use the opportunity given to them by the former Emir to be of good behaviour and decent members of the society by avoiding anything that will send them to correctional centres again. They wished the former Emir a happy 60th birthday with long life and prosperity.
