Kaduna State gov’t dismisses 233 teachers for presenting fake certificates

In its desire to improve standards in public basic education in Kaduna schools, the State Universal Basic Education Board (KADSUBEB) says it has dismissed 233 teachers for presenting fake certificates.

This was disclosed by the Chairman of Kaduna State Universal Basic Education Board, Tijjani Abdullahi in a statement on Thursday.

Abdullahi observed that as part of its responsibility to ensure that all teachers actually have the qualification they presented, the board launched a Certificate Verification Exercise in April 2021.

He explained that the major objective of the exercise was to ensure that all teachers in the state have the necessary qualifications as teachers. According to him, so far the board has verified 451 certificates by contacting the institution that issued them, 13 institutions have so far responded.

He explained that responses from the institutions show that 233 teachers presented fake certificates, one institution disowned 212 of these 233 fake certificates.

The board according to him will continue with the exercise, and the 233 found will be prosecuted before the court of law. Similarly, the board will soon conduct a competency test.
