Atiku leads protest at INEC headquarters in Abuja

The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, has led a protest at the headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission in Abuja to oppose the declaration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the winner of the presidential election held on February 25th, 2023.

Pictures by Punch show PDP Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, other party leaders as well as supporters at the INEC headquarters wearing black clothes, holding placards with an inscription about the unfairness of the election outcome, and demanding that INEC released the real results.

Speaking to newsmen at the venue of the protest, Atiku vowed that the protest would continue as the current Electoral Law has been completely contravened.

He said, “All the provisions of the current Electoral law have been completely contravened. We were protesting and then INEC was not listening and went on to announce the result.

“That is why we are protesting. We have the right to protest and it will continue for a very long time, either every day or any other day.

“We have the right to protest under the constitution, and it doesn’t stop us from going to the court,” he said.
