Businessman accuses quack doctor of stealing wife’s kidney during surgery

Story from Hamzat Ibrahim ABAGA

Alhaji Kamal, a resident of the Rikkos area of Jos North, Plateau State, has accused a fake doctor, Noah Kekere, of harvesting one of his wife’s kidneys during surgery, causing complications and chronic pains to the woman for the past five years.

According to Vanguard News, Kamal’s wife, Kehinde, had complained of stomach ache in 2018 and was rushed to Kekere’s clinic in the Nasarawa Gwong area of Jos North local government area, where the accused doctor diagnosed her with ruptured appendicitis and charged them N140,000 for surgery.

After the surgery, Kehinde continued to complain of severe stomach pain, and Kekere kept collecting money from Kamal over the years.

A few days ago, Kamal said he took his wife to the Jos University Teaching Hospital, JUTH, where they discovered that one of her kidneys was missing.

Kamal reported the matter to the police at Nasarawa Gwong, and Kekere was arrested two days ago.

Investigation revealed that Kekere had been parading himself as a doctor for over 18 years, treating people in the area.

It was discovered that he has a B.Sc. and a master’s degree in Economics and attended a nursing school but did not complete it. Kekere reportedly said he did Community Health.

The case has been transferred to the Commissioner of Police for further investigation.

Kamal has pleaded for justice for his wife and others who might have been victims of the alleged quack doctor.

The spokesman of the State Police Command, Alfred Alabo, could not be reached for comment at the time of this report.
