Court grants Malami, son ₦200m bail in alleged terrorism financing case
The Federal High Court in Abuja has granted former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, and his son bail in the sum of ₦200 million each over alleged terrorism financing charges.
The ruling was delivered after their arraignment by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), which accused them of involvement in financial transactions allegedly linked to terrorism funding.
In granting bail, the court imposed stringent conditions, including the provision of sureties with verifiable assets within the court’s jurisdiction. The defendants were also ordered to deposit their international passports and refrain from interfering with witnesses.

Both Malami and his son pleaded not guilty to the charges. Defence counsel urged the court to grant bail on liberal terms, arguing that the accused persons are public figures who would not jump bail and are prepared to face trial.
The prosecution, however, had requested strict conditions, citing the gravity of the allegations.
The case has been adjourned to a later date for the commencement of trial.
