Court remands father for allegedly raping daughter

An Ado-Ekiti Magistrate’s Court has ordered the remand of 42-year-old Christopher Israel in a correctional facility following allegations of raping his 22-year-old daughter.

The charges brought against Israel include rape and assault.

During the proceedings, Magistrate Mrs. Olubunmi Bamidele declined to take Israel’s plea due to jurisdictional concerns and instructed that he be held at a correctional center in Ado-Ekiti while awaiting legal counsel from the Director of Public Prosecutions.

The case has been adjourned until November 6 for further mention.

The prosecutor Insp. Olubu Apata revealed that the alleged incident occurred on September 21 in Ado-Ekiti.

He alleged that Israel assaulted his daughter during her visit, resulting in injuries as she tried to defend herself.

These actions allegedly violate Sections 265 and 256 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State 2021.

The prosecutor requested the court to keep Israel in custody while awaiting legal advice from the DPP’s office.
